THE Ludgate Hub in Skibbereen is opening its doors on Wednesday May 6th to celebrate European Coworking Day.
A free day of coworking, breakfast and networking is on offer to anyone who works remotely in the area.
Hybrid workers and anyone who is curious about coworking is also invited to drop in, work alongside their neighbours and experience what hub working feels like.

Working locally is changing Skibbereen, and West Cork, according to hub manager Elma Connolly. She stressed that the day is about more than just a single event.
‘At Ludgate Hub, you’ll find a mix of local businesses, remote workers and returning talent, including people who once commuted to Cork city but now work just minutes fromhome, contributing to a more vibrant and sustainable local economy,’ she explained.
Ludgate, located at Old Bakery in Townshend Street, is one of ten hubs taking part in the nationwide event, hosted by Grow Remote in partnership with the national network Connected Hubs, which has over 400 professionally-managed hubs across every county in Ireland.
The network has grown significantly in recent years as more people choose to work close to home rather than commute long distances.
The Skibbereen site is one of the big success stories of hub working. One member Dominic Casey, of Marsh Media, can attest to this.
‘After about six months working from home, I realised I needed a more connected and professional environment,’ he revealed.
‘Finding Ludgate two years ago completely changed things. I now have a space to meet clients, host Zoom calls, and be around other people again. I’ve been a full-time member ever since.’
The event runs as an open coworking day with no agenda and no presentations. Just a chance to work from a professional space, meet other remote workers in the area and see what the hub community is like.
Doors open at 9am with breakfast served at 10am, free hot desking all day with fast WiFi. Doors close at 5pm.
