MARKETING ASSISTANT
We have an opportunity for a motivated, ambitious candidate to learn new skills and take on responsibility for some aspects of our marketing and digital operations, including:
social media
website/southernstar.ie
email marketing
promoting our products, services and awards
supporting our sales and commercial team
Full training will be provided. The following skills are preferred:
a high standard of written english and grammar/confidence and ability to write copy for social medi marketing communications
basic use of design software (eg canva and capcut)
self starter with a 'can do' attitude who can deliver to deadlines / attention to detail / creative thinker
This role could suit a recent media or marketing graduate or candidate with some experience in these areas.
The role is based in Southern Star HQ, Skibbereen, West Cork and reports to the Digital Manager.

CHIEF NEWS REPORTER
We are expanding our team and looking for a Chief News Reporter to help shape the next exciting chapter for our news publishing content across print and digital (including our online subscription strategy).
Key responsibilities:
Source exclusive news stories that are important to our readers across West Cork
Bring engaging ideas for articles, investigative series, long reads and features to the Editor
Multimedia news reporting and publishing including video, audio, web and social media
Key attributes:
Team player with great communication skills and a passion for local news and community
Minimum of 3 years experience as a reporter in a busy newsroom environment
Attention to detail and capability to deliver accurate, clean copy to tight deadlines
A 'can-do' attitude and flexible approach to the evolving priorities of our publishing operations
Experience of multi-platform news publishing
Potential for career progression and continued development, training and learning new skills as part of our award-winning multi-platform editorial publishing team.
Location: The role is based at our Skibbereen HQ. Some hybrid working possible for the right candidate.
