The Baltimore Wooden Boat Festival is well under way in Baltimore. As part of the festival, there is a boat building competition where team make boats and attempt to sail across the harbour in their creations. In glorious spring sunshine, a group of promising beekeepers with the West Cork Beekeepers Association gathered at the apiary for the first inspection of spring to validate the bee stocks. The highlight was finding the queen bee and picking her off the frame to mark her thorax which will provide a visual aid to finding her again at a later date during the season.

The Drinagh milk lorry visited Dromore National School last Friday where representatives from Drinagh Co-op spoke to the children about the milk collection process, how milk is made into cheese, and how Drinagh Co-op operates. The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit and were delighted to receive a Drinagh hat, kindly gifted to every pupil in the school.

The Wednesday gathering of ladies from Gortalassa Old School House presented Liz from Bru Columbanus Cork with a cheque for €794 which were the proceeds of their craft exhibition and coffee morning held in April. The group also handed over 15 sets of baby blankets and hat sets for families using Bru Columbanus and who have premature or sick babies in hospital.
