GALWAY girl Maeve Kingston grew up in Skibbereen, but now lives up West, studying Creative Writing at the University of Galway. She shared her eclectic taste with The Southern Star.

What music have you been to listening to on repeat at the moment?

Coronation Street by CMAT. It’s such a good morning song to get me out of bed, but also soul crushing. CMAT is the best singer I’ve ever heard.

What is your favourite genre of music?

My favourite genre of music is probably indie mixed with heavy metal or rock, I like being open to every genre. It’s rare if I don’t have a favourite song from every genre possible from my dad showing me such a variation of CDs as a child.

Favourite band or artists of all time?

My top artist of all time is definitely Fontaines DC. I went to their concert in Dublin and it was the best live music I’ve heard in ages.

Top three songs of all time?

National Anthems by Radiohead, Cowboy Nudes by Geese and Pressure to Party by Julia Jacklin have been my three favourite songs for far too long at this point.

If you could see one artist perform, dead or alive, who would it be?

David Bowie or Pink Floyd but they have to perform with David Gilmore otherwise it’s not acceptable.

Do you prefer to listen on vinyl, CD or Spotify?

I usually will stream music but recently I got a car so CDs have been my new obsession, particularly I have a Metallica CD that is perfect for driving.

What song would you like played at your funeral?

I think the song I would like played at my funeral is probably a sad one, so that everyone feels bad for me, like Garden Song by Phoebe Bridgers. A happy one is Nausicaä/Love will be revealed by Cameron Winter.
