THE Algiers gastro pub in Baltimore will mark its sixth anniversary this week by bringing back the menu locals grew up with.

A much-loved menu from its past will be recreated this Thursday February 19th with former owner Kieron Walsh returning to the kitchen for one night only.

The pub will serve dishes that many in the village grew up eating during Kieron’s time at The Algiers, including his famous whopping steak burger, Algiers-style chicken Kiev, fish and chips, chicken curry, and scampi.

The burger, a generous hand-formed ball of beef that earned its name over the years, remains one of the most fondly remembered dishes in the pub’s history.

Kieron will be on hand to assist with the preparation and cooking on the night, making the anniversary a shared celebration of the pub’s past and present.

The event has become a popular annual tradition, drawing people back through the doors who remember The Algiers as a central part of village life.

Co-owner Bill Hillyard said: ‘This night is about celebrating the people and the memories that shaped The Algiers long before we arrived.

‘So many locals grew up eating Kieron’s food here, and it means a lot to us to honour that history by bringing the menu back and welcoming Kieron into the kitchen again.

‘It’s always a special night that brings together old friends, familiar faces, and a real sense of community.’

Now run by Californian couple Bill and Ann Hillyard, The Algiers has become known for blending local produce with global influences, while remaining rooted in Baltimore’s strong sense of community.

The anniversary evening reflects that balance, celebrating the pub’s heritage while recognising the role it continues to play as a gathering place for locals of all ages.

The sixth anniversary event is walk-ins only, with no bookings taken. Diners are advised to arrive early, as the night has proven extremely popular in previous years.

The anniversary celebration follow a busy February at The Algiers, which hosted a Valentine’s Night Surf and Turf dinner on Saturday February 14th, featuring steak and prawns and a romantic heart-shaped dessert to finish.

The pub continues to mark calendar dates with food-led events that bring locals together throughout the year. Follow @thealgiersbaltimore on Instagram for the latest news, events, and updates from The Algiers.
