ACCOUNTING and taxation lecturer Louise O’Sullivan from Kealkil, Bantry traded her classroom for the boxing ring to raise funds for charity.

The ultra white collar boxing charity event took place on December 20th in Coventry. Participants with no prior boxing experience joined an eight-week training programme before competing in a live bout in front of thousands. Louise won her match against opponent Kashie after three rounds with a knock-down in round two, raising £1,300 for the Positive Youth Foundation, a Coventry-based charity in England that supports young people who are at risk of social exclusion, by providing mentoring, education and community programmes.

Louise is now completing her PhD at Warwick University and said the Coventry community has been very welcoming, so she wanted to give back. Louise is also a lecturer in accounting and tax at TU Dublin.
