A DRINAGH motorist who was on the morning school run has been fined €150 for careless driving following a two-vehicle collision despite no complaint being made from the other motorist.

Sgt Tom Mulcahy told the court that at 9.36am on June 4th last gardaí attended a two-vehicle collision at Drinagh.

‘The accused was driving a Nissan Micra and on the way to drop her two children to school when the collision occurred,’ said Sgt Mulcahy.

Defence solicitor Colette McCarthy said her client, who is originally from Morocco and has no previous convictions, accepts that she was on the wrong side of the road after veering over but that there was no evidence produced about her driving.

‘Her car was the only one of the two to be insured,’ said Ms McCarthy.

Judge Joanne Carroll convicted and fined her €150, noting that no complaint was made by the other driver.
