GAVAN Browne joined scouting at the age of six and if there was ever a person made for the role of a scout, it was Gavan.
From the beginning he took what the ethos of scouting was and ran with it, always identifying what he could do for others to make them feel better.
Gavan has been actively involved with Christmas Carol signing at the local St Colman’s house in Macroom, collecting food donations for local homeless charities and helping with the collection of sleeping bags and gift bags for donation to Cork Penny dinners for the homeless of Cork.

Gavan has also volunteered at the local NCBI shop, giving up his time to help staff the shop. Gavan decided that he wanted to bring a small bit of light into the lives of sick children.
Gavan saved up the pocket money that he earned while carrying out odd jobs around the family farm and with this he went and purchased toys and games for the ward.
He delivered them to the children’s ward in CUH just before Christmas in a large sack just like Father Christmas.
