Traffic management measures have been put in place to allow the crew to carry out the repair safely.
Customers in the following areas will be impacted by water supply disruptions: The Carrigaline Court Hotel, Kilmoney Woods, Kilmoney Road Upper, Lower Clevedon, Mountain Road, Station Road, West Avenue, Maurland.
Repair works are expected to be completed by 7:30pm this evening.
Water operations network manager at Uisce Éireann, Michael Bell, said: 'We understand the disruption a large burst like this can cause and we are working to repair the water main as quickly as possible, while prioritising the safety of the public and our crew. Due to flooding and debris at the site, traffic management and diversions are required to allow the repair to be carried out safely. We thank the community for their patience and understanding while this work is ongoing.'
Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all affected customers.
However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
Updates will be posted on water.ie
