Dunmanway Historical Association will hold a talk and presentation on the West Cork Railways with Chris Larkin on Thursday October 16th at 8pm at the GAA pavilion. This photograph was taken at Dunmanway Railway Station on the last day of the West Cork Railway in 1961, with Atkins grain silo in the background. The Historical Association would be delighted if somebody could identify the lady and the child on the platform. Free membership of Dunmanway Historical Association is the reward. The service in West Cork was set up in the early 1990s, when local volunteers in two locations, Bantry and Macroom, set up community information centres and joined the national network.

The group members enjoyed refreshments at the Bank House after their guided tour.

Molly Minehane from Clonakilty met Micheál Martin when he was canvassing at Mahon Point. Molly recently turned 18 and will have her first vote in the upcoming presidential election.

An enjoyable 57th anniversary class re-union of women who attended Sacred Heart Secondary School in 1968 took place at Fernhill House Hotel recently. The 1980 Leaving Certificate students from Sacred Heart Secondary School held a reunion recently at the Brewery Bar, Clonakilty where Martina O’Regan, Mary O’Driscoll and Irene Burke enjoyed a catch up.
