Cleanderry West Pier has also been outlined for safety improvement works, receiving €125,400.
The total allocation for Cork projects under the scheme amounts to €674,188.
The improvement works will enhance safety, accessibility and the long-term sustainability of West Cork’s piers, harbours and marine facilities.
Welcoming the funding allocation, Senator Noel O’Donovan said: ‘this funding is hugely important for our coastal communities across West Cork…communities such as Glengarriff, Courtmacsherry, Schull and Baltimore rely heavily on these facilities and this investment will make a real difference locally.’
Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity Christopher O Sullivan said: ‘I’ve been advocating for years for more investment in our local piers and pontoons, which are essential infrastructure for coastal communities…This funding will cover around 75% of what’s needed, with the rest to be made up by Cork County Council.’
Local authorities have until 31 October 2026 to complete works and submit claims to the Department.
