AN IRISH museum where Michael Collins’ gun holster is on display has just broken into the top ten attractions in Europe.
The Little Museum of Dublin ranks at an impressive seventh in Europe and twelfth worldwide with TripAdvisor, the bible for travellers, in their 2026 Travellers’ Choice Awards.
This latest achievement puts it in some remarkable company ahead of internationally renowned landmarks such as the Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Van Gogh Museum.

It’s the first time that an Irish attraction has featured so prominently in the ‘Best of the Best’ awards, which are given to the top 1% of attractions in the world.
Dr Daryl Hendley Rooney, deputy curator of the Little Museum of Dublin, said: ‘This is an extraordinary achievement. It speaks to the generosity of Irish people, who helped to build our collection, and the support of our patrons.’
Founded in 2011 and located in the heart of Dublin on St Stephen’s Green, the Little Museum of Dublin houses a collection created through public donations.
A leather gun holster worn by Michael Collins at Béal na Bláth, went on display having been made available by his descendants.
