Fianna Fáil’s George Gill was co-opted at this morning’s meeting of Cork County Council to take the seat of the late Patrick Gerard Murphy who passed away last September.
County Mayor Mary Linehan Foley welcomed him to the chamber and said she is looking forward to working with him.
She also said they were all thinking of the late Cllr Murphy on this day.

Cllr Gill said it was ‘bitter sweet’ for him as Cllr Murphy was a timeless advocate for West Cork.
‘I will do my best to live up to the standards and quality of service that he gave to Cork,’ said Cllr Gill.
