KINSALE have set up an U18 Girls Munster Cup Division 2 semi-final against Clonakilty after beating Bandon 1-0 on Sunday.
Having lost 1-0 to Bandon in the league the previous weekend, the Kinsale hockey team was fully aware of the challenge in this Munster cup quarter-final.
The decisive goal came at the end of the first quarter. Having defended a Bandon attack, Lara McGinn found Millie O’Dowd in midfield, who delivered the ball into the Bandon circle where Charlotte Collins found enough space to strike the ball low into the Bandon goal.

With only one goal separating the teams heading into the fourth quarter, it fell on the shoulders of Kinsale’s defenders to help keep the Bandon attack out. With Cora and Chantelle Buttimer, Sophie O’Connor and Dalia Kemp working extremely hard, Kinsale saw out the game by the closest of margins to advance to the Munster semi-finals in March where Clon await.
