CHARLEVILLE man Darragh Fitzgibbon has been appointed as captain of the Cork senior hurling team for the new season.

The role of vice-captain will be filled by Mark Coleman of Blarney.

Fitzgibbon replaces Robert Downey as the skipper for Ben O'Connor's side.

The man who plays midfield or centre-forward has won three All-Star awards (2018, 2024 and 2025) and has cemented himself as one of the main players for the Rebels.

Cork open their National Hurling League Division 1A campaign against Waterford on Sunday, January 25th in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
