DRINAGH Rangers dropped early points in the PremierHiSpecCars.com Premier Division after conceding a last-minute equaliser to draw 1-1 against Togher Celtic.

Padraic Hegarty gave Rangers an early lead after nine minutes and they looked to be heading for home until a Patrick Collins leveller for Togher shared the spoils.

With Clonakilty Soccer Club after three league wins in-a-row to start the campaign, this could be a crucial result, even at the league’s infancy.

Drinagh’s B team had a more successful weekend, seeing off Castletown Celtic 6-0 to move up to fourth. A 4-0 half-time lead set the second string up nicely in this one as Ryan Daly, Darragh Coakley and Damien Fernandez all netted inside 20 minutes to make it 3-0. Daniel Fernandez closed out the scoring in the opening half. The second-half goals came courtesy of Anthony O’Sullivan and Damien Fernandez to make it six.

Elsewhere, Lyre Rovers won their second game of the season after beating Dunmanway Town 2-1. William Bailey gave Rovers a 1-0 half-time advantage before a Fergal Murphy strike on 71 minutes made it safe for Lyre, despite a late consolation from Oran McCarthy.

In the OBrienWaterServices.com Championship, Ardfield moved up to second with a convincing 5-1 win over Aultagh Celtic B. Luke Chambers gave Aultagh the lead after 20 minutes but by the 30th minute, they were losing 2-1 as Seán Lawless and Ronan Hayes goaled. Caolan Hayes made it 3-1 at the break before Ben Linehan and Karol Siwek finished the job.

Castlelack were 2-0 down with ten minutes to go against Aultagh Celtic and were heading for a second defeat in succession after an Evan Maguire brace had Celtic in control.

Castlelack’s hero came in the form of Jamie Hunt who scored goals in the 82nd and 90th minutes to salvage a point. Aultagh sit sixth early doors with a win, two draws and a defeat so far.
