THERE’S just no stopping Maeve O’Neill right now, as the Ballinacarriga athlete raced to more gold and glory in America.
With two gold medals, the Doheny AC star was crowned the BIG EAST Most Outstanding Female Track Performer at the outdoor championships held at the University of Connecticut.
Mighty Maeve, who is in the form of her life, was also crowned Most Outstanding Female Track Performer at the BIG EAST’s indoor championships.

Last weekend, the Providence College junior powered to gold in the 800 metres, winning the title in a new school record time of 2:02.05. This was also a meet and facility record.
Maeve then helped Providence win the 4x800m relay championship in a time of 8:30.87. Again, this was a meet and a facility record. This team also included freshman Gemma Galvin from Clare and senior Cara Laverty from Derry.
Just last week, Maeve was named the Female Athlete of the Year for Individual Sports at her college in Rhode Island.
