THREE teams from Schull Community College travelled to the 2026 Schools Team Racing National Championships in Dún Laoghaire, where the West Cork school again confirmed its status as the dominant force in Irish schools sailing.

Hosted by the Royal Irish Yacht Club, the championships featured 24 schools and more than 150 races sailed in ideal conditions.

Schull’s SCC Sharks crew continued their unbeaten season by retaining the national title in impressive fashion. In a remarkable achievement for the school, the SCC Seals completed an all-Schull final by taking the silver medal, while the Orcas finished 13th overall.

Schull’s latest success further underlines the school’s reputation as one of the country’s leading nurseries for youth sailing talent, with both top crews finishing on the national podium.

Also, Daniel Copithorne, part of Schull’s victorious Sharks team, has also been selected by World Sailing to compete in the U23 Youth Match Racing World Championships in Denmark. Daniel is the current 420 Irish Youth champion.
