WE are down to the final four in this season’s SuperValu West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League U15 Schoolboys Challenge Cup.

Drinagh Rangers faced Riverside Athletic in Canon Crowley Park where the hosts emerged 2-1 quarter-final winners.

Conor Keohane netted for Riverside but two Conor Collins goals sent Rangers through. Collins, Mark Burke, John O’Donovan and Patrick Daly stood out for Rangers.

Skibbereen Dynamos will host Drinagh in the penultimate round. Dynamos proved too strong for Togher Celtic, winning 5-1 at Ollie McCarthy Park. Yevhenii Dubyk (two), Leo Dowdall (two) and Fynn Ryan were amongst Skibbereen’s scorers in a tie Tadgh O’Farrell converted a Togher penalty. Dubyk, Charlie McCarthy and Charlie Heaton-Jones played well for Skibb.

Castlelack will take on Beara United in the other U15 Schoolboys Challenge Cup semi-final. The latter were handed a bye while Castlelack defeated Lyre Rovers 3-1. Jack Allen (two) and Tiernan Crewe scored with Jack Horgan, Darragh McKeon, Chris Heaney and Daniel O’Regan playing equally impressively. Dara Ryan was Rovers’ lone scorer.

Those outcomes confirmed the draw for this season’s SuperValu U15 Schoolboys Shield.

In the first of two semi-finals, Bay Rovers will be away to either Togher Celtic or Ardfield. Clonakilty AFC enjoy home advantage against the winners of Skibbereen Celtic and Riverside Athletic in the U15 Schoolboys Shield’s other last four encounter.

Castlelack defeated Sullane to reach the SuperValu U14 Schoolboys Challenge Cup semi-finals.

The Brinny club netted four times in the opening half of a 6-2 triumph. John Smithers (two), Darragh McKeown (two), Liam Verling and Luke McCarthy netted for Castlelack. Liam Carey and Linard Maurins (penalty) replied for a Sullane team in which goalkeeper Tom Óg O’Duinnin played well. Jack Horgan, Shane Cronin and Ted O’Sullivan were the pick of the winners’ top performers.

Castlelack’s reward is a trip to Dunmanway Town in the last four of U14 Schoolboys Challenge Cup. Ryan Healy Crowley, Danny Carroll and Ben Machie goals earned Town a 3-0 quarter-final victory away to Drinagh Rangers. Patrick Hennigan was another player to stand out for the victors.

Danny Forristal (two) and Liam Byerley strikes earned Clonakilty AFC Reds a 3-2 quarter-final win at home to Ardfield. The Ballyvackey club awaits the winners of Beara United and Skibbereen Dynamos in the penultimate round.

The latter stages of this season’s U14 Schoolboys Shield are also taking shape.

Ollie McCarthy Park hosted Skibbereen Celtic and Lyre Rovers’ quarter-final last Saturday. Rovers recorded a convincing win thanks to Eduard Ulianov (two), Jason O’Connell, Sean Galwey, Ewan Bell and Pearse Nolan strikes.

In the same competition, Togher Celtic travelled to Riverside Athletic where the latter also won comprehensively. Adam O’Driscoll, Daragh Aherne, Daniel Brady, Jason Kingston, William McCarthy and Oisin O’Sullivan were amongst the goals for Riverside.

The two remaining U14 Schoolboys Shield quarter-finals sees Bunratty United hosting Bay Rovers and Ardfield taking on Clonakilty AFC Green.

Dunmanway Town will travel to Clonakilty AFC United in the U13 Schoolboys Challenge Cup quarter-finals following last Sunday’s 4-2 victory over Beara United.

Michael O’Sullivan netted twice for Beara but Conor McCarthy, Darryl Farr, Nathan Long and Cian Owens strikes won it for Dunmanway.

Clonakilty AFC City are the first club through to this season’s U13 Schoolboys Challenge Cup semi-finals. The Ballyvackey side knocked out Castlelack Athletic thanks to Max O’Keefe’s lone strike in a 1-0 victory.

In the SuperValu U12 Schoolboys Challenge Cup, Jack O’Sullivan’s long-range effort was enough to earn Lyre Rovers Black a 1-0 win over Bay Rovers and secure a quarter-final berth. Morgan Coleman, Danny Murphy and Barra Sheehan played superbly for Lyre.

Rioghan Walsh and Cian Twomey goals earned Beara United a 2-1 U12 Schoolboys Challenge Cup victory over Drinagh Dynamos at Canon Crowley Park. Kerry Yeboah Tamea scored for the hosts.

Clonakilty AFC Rovers overpowered Bunratty United in the same competition despite Sally McCarthy, Dylan Jeffrey and Cillian Moffett impressing for the Schull club. Arlo Rose, Rian Daly, Oran Werner, Seán Lyons, Oisin Powley, Muiris O’Dowd and Scott Riordan were amongst the goals for Clon.

Clonakilty AFC qualified for this season’s U15 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup final thanks to victory away to Lyre Rovers.

Clodagh O’Regan edged the visitors in front during the opening half before Aoibhinn Rice secured a 2-0 victory in the second period. Clonakilty AFC’s reward for overcoming their local rivals is a cup final meeting with Dunmanway Town.

Bay Rovers needed penalties to see off Togher Celtic following a cracking U14 Schoolgirls Shield semi-final.

Nicola Hurley scored for Celtic and Lily-Rose O’Donovan for Bay in a tie that ended 1-1 after extra-time. Rovers won 4-2 on penalties with Emma Barry-O’Callaghan, Megan O’Neill and Izzy Ross starred for the Kealkill club.

Bay will meet the winners of Clonakilty AFC and Riverside Athletic’s upcoming semi-final in the decider.

Canon Crowley Park was the venue for Monday evening’s U12 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup semi-final between Drinagh Rangers and Clonakilty AFC Reds.

Two goals in either half helped secure Drinagh’s 4-0 win. Ellie O’Regan netted a hat-trick with Aisling O’Donovan also scoring.

A second U12 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup semi-final between Bay Rovers and Beara United was decided by penalty kicks last Monday evening.

Beara led 2-0 at the break but Bay fought back impressively to earn a 3-3 draw and force a penalty shootout. Rovers emerged 3-1 winners on spot kicks and will face Drinagh in the U12 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup decider.

Sadie O’Donoghue O’Leary, Emma Lucey and Grace McCarthy scored for Bay. Ashlinn Lowney, Robyn Healy and Lizzie O’Shea were on target for Lyre.
