BOTH Beamish Cup finalists are chasing domestic trebles as Ardfield and Drinagh Rangers prepare to collide in Sunday’s decider at Turner’s Cross (12.30pm).
The West Cork League’s showpiece offers more than just silverware – it’s a chance to crown an outstanding season for two in-form sides.
Drinagh Rangers have already secured the Premier Division title as well as the Parkway Hotel/Maybury Coaches Cup, and the Beamish Cup final marks their last outing of the campaign.

Since the start of November, Rangers have lost just two games in all competitions. It has been a superb season, yet it’s eight years since they last lifted the Beamish Cup. Having ended Clonakilty Soccer Club’s run of three consecutive league titles, Drinagh have reasserted themselves as the top team in West Cork soccer. A first Beamish Cup success since 2018 would put the finishing touch on a brilliant campaign.
Ardfield, meanwhile, arrive in equally strong form and, despite operating in the Championship, have shown they are a force to be reckoned with.
The Championship Cup is already secured, while victory in their remaining league games against Beara United and Bay Rovers would seal the Championship title and promotion.
Their recent results underline their momentum. Big league wins over Skibbereen Celtic (7-1), Skibbereen AFC (9-1) and Aultagh Celtic B (11-0), along with cup victories against Beara United (5-1) and Castletown Celtic (5-0), highlight their scoring power.
Last season’s beaten finalists, Ardfield have won 12 of their last 13 games since the turn of the year. Excluding penalty shoot-outs, they too have lost just twice since November, mirroring Drinagh’s consistency.
They also carry belief from last season’s semi-final, when they stunned Drinagh with a 3-1 victory. It proved they can mix it with Premier Division opposition and won’t be overawed by the occasion as they chase an historic first Beamish Cup crown.
Both clubs are enjoying exceptional seasons. Both are in top form. Both are chasing history. All of which points to a Beamish Cup final that promises to deliver.
