THE new SuperValu West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League season is underway with the opening rounds of the Schoolgirls Challenge Cups completed over Easter.
Drinagh Rangers knocked Riverside Athletic out of the U12 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup following a terrific match on Monday evening. Ellie O’Regan (2) and Aisling O’Donovan found the net for Rangers in a 3-2 win. Moya Hennessey scored twice for the home team.
Laoise Harte (2), Aisling Powley (2) and Catherine Foley efforts earned Clonakilty AFC Reds a 5-0 quarter-final win away to Dunmanway Town at the Meadows.

Clonakilty AFC’s other U12 team, the Greens, and Bay Rovers produced a cracker in Ballyvackey. It finished 1-1 after full-time and extra-time before Rovers emerged victorious, 2-1, after a penalty shootout. Chloe O’Connor found the net for Bay while Emma Deasy scored for the home team.
As a result of those outcomes, Bay Rovers will face Beara United and Clonakilty AFC Reds will take on Drinagh Rangers in the U12 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup semi-finals.
Any teams that lost their opening cup tie will compete for the U12 Shield. The winners of Dunmanway Town and Clonakilty AFC Greens’ semi-final will face Riverside Athletic in this season’s Shield decider.

Ella Murray (2) and Mia Horgan goals have sent Riverside Athletic into this season’s U13 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup semi-finals. A 3-1 quarter-final triumph over Clonakilty AFC was attained despite Ella Murnane Hayes netting for Clonakilty.
Riverside will face Castlelack for a place in the U13 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup decider. Beara United and Dunmanway Town will meet in the competition’s other semi-final.

Drinagh Rangers set up an U14 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup quarter-final meeting with Sullane following a preliminary round victory at Togher Celtic. Molly Lyons scored for Togher but Ellie O’Regan, Matilda Kaiser, Ayesha Daly, Holly Conolly Jeffrey and Mia Hegarty strikes sent the Canon Crowley Park club through.
Elsewhere, Dunmanway Town and Clonakilty AFC’s quarter-final ended in a 1-0 victory for the home team at the Meadows. Ava Healy’s late winner earned Town a narrow win.
Alice O’Sullivan (2), Eadaoin Collins and Grace O’Sullivan found the net in Lyre Rovers’ 4-1 cup win away to Bay Rovers. Lily-Rose O’Donovan replied for the Kealkill club.
Beara United made it through to the cup semi-finals after a 3-2 defeat of Riverside Athletic in Castletownbere on Easter Monday. Ella Murray and Ria Buttimer netted for Athletic. Ava Downing, Katie Downey and Lizzie O’Shea strikes won it for United.
This season’s U14 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup semi-finals will see Dunmanway Town host Beara United and Lyre Rovers welcome either Drinagh or Sullane.

Dunmanway Town U12, Clonakilty AFC U13 and Drinagh Rangers U14 were amongst the West Cork Schoolboys Challenge Cup winners over Easter.
Dunmanway overcame Ardfield Hurricanes 4-0 in the U12 Schoolboys Challenge Cup preliminary round on Good Friday. Nathan Crowley Healy (2), Charlie McCarthy and Daniel Kenneally strikes sent the hosts through. Harry Hume, Ali O’Callaghan, Lorcan Tobin and Evan O’Donovan played well for the Hurricanes.
Drinagh Diamonds’ place in the round of 16 was secured via a 6-1 win over Skibbereen. Sean O’Mahony netted a hat-trick in a tie Conor Connolly Jeffery (2) and Harry O’Sullivan also shone for the Diamonds.

Skibbereen Celtic and Clonakilty AFC City played out an 11-goal U13 Schoolboys Challenge Cup thriller. Clon emerged 6-5 winners thanks to a Sean Kennedy hat-trick plus Michael Harrington (2) and Ciarán Wilcox efforts. Jack O’Brien netted four and Kasey O’Regan also scored for a battling Skibb.
Diarmuid Sutton (2) and Oran Keane goals cemented Drinagh Rangers’ 3-0 preliminary round win away to Ardfield.
Clonakilty AFC United defeated Kilmichael Rovers 3-2 to book their quarter-final berth. Tom Hallahan and Liam Murphy scored for Rovers but Keith Kogotso (2) and Calum Cooney goals gave Clon their victory.
Castlelack Athletic are through to the last eight courtesy of a win away to Drinagh Rangers Dynamos. Eoghan Hurley (6), Cian Murphy, Ryan O’Reilly, Noah Collins, Josh Quinn and Rory Hickey all netted. Drinagh’s reply was scored by Max Musgrave.

Two Charlie Ryan Daly strikes enabled Drinagh Rangers to defeat Riverside Athletic 3-0 in the U14 Schoolboys Challenge Cup.
Skibbereen Dynamos proved too strong for Lyre Rovers in the same competition. Ryan and Ethan Atalay each scored hat-tricks with Sean Hurley, Senan Whooley and Tadhg Ronan also contributing.
On Good Friday, Sullane knocked Togher Celtic out of the U14 Cup thanks to Liam Carey, Lizard Maurins, Diarmuid Dineen, Darragh Dineen, Conor Kelleher and Matt Buckley efforts.
John Smithers’ lone strike enabled Castlelack to edge Bunratty United 1-0.
Dunmanway Town are into the quarter-finals following victory away to Skibbereen Celtic. Ryan Crowley Healy (3), Tristan O’Neill-Hayes, Jai Hurley and Patrick Hennigan were on Town’s scoresheet. Edward O’Donovan was Celtic’s only scorer.
Ardfield travelled to Bay Rovers on Easter Monday and progressed in the U14 Challenge Cup following a 6-1 win. Oran Quirke scored for Bay but Liam Fargnoli (2), Ciaran McCarthy (2), Jake Montgomery and Johnny O’Loghlin goals won it for Ardfield.

This season’s U15 Challenge Cup quarter-finalists have been confirmed.
Charlie Ryan Daly’s strike helped Drinagh Rangers defeat Clonakilty AFC 1-0. Rangers will host Riverside Athletic in the last eight.
Lyre Rovers won 5-1 away to Bay Rovers with Donnacha Ryan (2), Patrick O’Leary and Tim Crowley amongst the goals. Jamie Wiseman replied for Bay.
Lyre will travel to Castlelack in the quarter-finals after the Brinny club defeated Skibbereen Celtic 5-0. Jack Allen (2) and Tadhg Hickey were amongst Castlelack’s scorers.
Togher Celtic will face Skibbereen in the quarter-finals courtesy of a 3-2 win over Ardfield. Michael O’Shea and Jake Montgomery netted for the latter. Tadgh O’Farrell, Jack McCarthy and Jack Buttimer (penalty) goals sent Togher through.
