CARBERY made a winning start in the U15 Premier 1 Hurling League with a 5-14 to 4-11 victory over Blackrock at Church Road.
An historic occasion, this was the first time Carbery has fielded an U15 hurling team.
Playing with the aid of the breeze in the opening half, Carbery took control early and built a commanding 4-8 to 1-5 lead by the interval.

Blackrock responded strongly after the break and enjoyed a dominant third quarter, cutting the deficit to 4-9 to 2-10 and putting Carbery under real pressure.
However, a series of astute changes by the Carbery management helped steady the side. Regaining their composure, Carbery finished strongly to push clear again and secure a deserved six-point win after a very satisfactory display.
Carbery’s next outing in the competition is against Ballincollig in Newcestown this Thursday, April 30th.
