KILMACABEA: The club are proud to announce their official entry into the Healthy Ireland ‘Healthy Club’ project. This transformative initiative marks a significant shift for the club, as it expands its focus beyond the playing field to become a dedicated hub for health and well-being within the Leap and Glandore communities. Kilmacabea GAA and LGFA commit to providing a safe, inclusive, and health-orientated environment, regardless of age or athletic ability. The club aims to introduce a variety of programmes focusing on physical activity, mental fitness, healthy eating and social inclusion. Club chairperson Barry Glavin expressed his enthusiasm for the new chapter. ‘We have always been more than just a sports club - we are the heartbeat of our community. This initiative allows us to give back in a meaningful way, ensuring that every person in our locality, whether they wear the jersey or not, has a place to improve their well-being and stay connected,’ he said. The project will be led by the newly appointed Healthy Club Officer, Caroline Murphy who will lead a dedicated committee to oversee the rollout of various initiatives, ranging from community walking tracks to mental health literacy. The club is now entering a community mapping phase to identify the specific needs of local residents. This ensures that the initiatives introduced are relevant and impactful. The club invite all community members to get involved as they strive to make Leap a healthier, more vibrant place to live. For more information on upcoming programmes or to join the Healthy Club committee, please contact the club or follow our social media channels.
