SCOIL Phobail Beara in Castletownbere, Innishannon’s Scoil Eoin, and Hamilton High School in Bandon have been approved for accommodation and modular extensions.

The schools have all been included in the NDP Sectoral Investment Plan 2026-2030.

Fianna Fáil TD and Minister of State Christopher O’Sullivan welcomed the news.

This is a very significant investment in West Cork’s education and youth sectors. I am committed to seeing West Cork’s education sector go from strength to strength, and to ensure our world-class education system supports every student in reaching their full potential,’ he said.

The €7.55 billion NDP Sectoral Investment Plan announced by the government is focused in on maximising capacity and prioritising projects to meet the most urgent needs, particularly to support special education needs provision.

Ballinspittle National School had also been approved for a special needs class, one of 13 across Cork county.

‘This is great news for students with special needs and their parents. I cannot wait to take a tour of the grounds when it’s completed,’ Minister O’Sullivan said.
