BAY Rovers, Clonakilty AFC and Dunmanway Town were amongst the West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League’s schoolgirls age-grade winners during the past week.
Bay Rovers joined Clonakilty AFC Greens at the summit of the U12 Schoolgirls Premier League with a victory in their first fixture of the new campaign.
The Kealkil club proved too strong for a young Dunmanway Town side and ran out convincing winners thanks to Gracie McCarthy, Chloe O’Connor, Kate O’Brien and Ella Harrington’s finishing. Emma Lucey, Kelly Creedon and Saoirse Vaughan were also on target for Rovers.

A local derby between Lyre Rovers and Clonakilty AFC ended in a 3-0 victory for the latter in the U14 Schoolgirls Premier League last Monday evening.
Goals from Emma Deasy, Lucy Harrington and Flora Melton Lowney secured Clonakilty’s first three points of the new season at the expense of a battling Lyre Rovers.
The first game of the new U15 Schoolgirls Premier League season was completed at the Meadows where Dunmanway Town overcame Beara United 4-0.
Keira Kelly found the net to help the hosts build a 2-0 interval lead. Despite a battling effort, Beara conceded twice more with Niamh Sweetnam and Faye Barry finding the net. Clonakilty AFC and Lyre Rovers are the other clubs in the U15 Schoolgirls Premier League.
A new U16 Schoolgirls Premier League season is up and running
Clonakilty AFC and Bay Rovers were scheduled to make their Premier League debuts at Ballyvackey until the hosts were unable to field and had to give a walkover to the Kealkill club.
Drinagh Rangers will get their campaign underway at home to Castlelack in Canon Crowley Park. Sullane is the other club involved in this year’s U16 Schoolgirls age-grade in what should be an intriguing competition.
Drinagh and Sullane are the two favourites after both clubs qualified in style for this season’s U16 Schoolgirls Challenge Cup final.
The Ballyvourney club defeated Bay Rovers 5-0 and Drinagh put six goals past Castlelack in the other cup semi-final.
