An Taoiseach Micheal Martin TD officially opened and cut the ribbon at Atkins Farm & Garden Machinery’s new state of the art showroom and workshop in Bandon today. Despite a very wet day in West Cork, there was a good turnout for the Ballinacarriga charity tractor, car and truck run which took place today. The run was held to raise funds for Cancer Connect; Ballinacarriga National School and Randall Óg GAA Club. A Country OK dance event took place at the Town Hall in Skibbereen last weekend. A cast of professional and amateur dancers performed a show, followed by an hour of audience dancing, all to the music of live band The Tan Jackets and Robbie Barron. Fourth year students from De La Salle College were inspired by the talk given by Kate Crowley about West Cork Rapid Response last week and took action as part of their social media project by placing the school's Eircode in every classroom.

At their very successful open day held at their premises at Clonakilty Showgrounds are Clonakilty Boxing Club coaches and committee members Conor Gallagher, Sinéad McCarthy, Raul Tardio and Shane Field.

Kaiya O’Sullivan represented Bantry Blues in the solo dance competition in Scór na bPáistí at the Cork county final where she danced beautifully. It was a massive achievement to reach the Cork final having made it through two Carbery rounds and a Cork semi-final.

Marking 65-years since the closure of the West Cork Railway, this group of rail enthusiasts collaborated with Táilte Tours for a bus tour which visited all the railway sites. At the Community Spirit Awards 2026 ceremony which took place at the Cork International Hotel, the Lifetime Contribution was awarded to former TD and Senator Barry Cogan from Carrigaline. Barry was a founding member of the Carrigaline Community Association which has supported many initiatives in the town including GAA organisations, Tidy Towns and the town's men’s shed. Throughout his political career, Barry helped secure key developments that improved infrastructure including a Community School and Gaelcholáiste.
