With the good weather set to pick up this weekend, its the perfect excuse to get out and experience all that West Cork has to offer.

This weekend's events include Róisín Ó at Connolly's, a dusk chorus, Fastnet Film Festival, a mini sustainable festival and a car and tractor run.

Fastnet Film Festival - Wednesday May 20th to Sunday May 24th

The Fastnet Film Festival is a well-loved, independent short film festival that takes place annually in the month of May in the village of Schull.

Not only does the festival showcase local talent, but it also features live music, quizzes and family entertainment. 

The festival takes place between the 20th of May up until the 24th of May.

A Thriving Future - Saturday May 23rd

A Thriving Future is a local sustainability movement that takes place every year at Kinsale College Campus, the same place movement began back in 2005.

World renowned speakers, Mary Reynolds, Rob Hopkins, Thomas O’Connor and Lisa Fingleton will speak at the mini festival.

There will also be a market, live music, food and craic at the event, which takes place on the 23rd of May at 9:30 a.m. 

The admission fee is €30, and tickets can be purchased here.

 

Róisín O at Connolly's - Saturday May 23rd

Róisín O, an Irish singer/songwriter musician, was raised in a family deeply rooted in Irish music.

Her music highlights traditional folk music.

This night at Connolly's of Leap is guaranteed to showcase powerful vocals and intricate songwriting. 

She will perform on Saturday the 23rd of May. Doors open at 7pm.

Vintage and Classic Car Run - Sunday May 24th

St. Mary’s Vintage and Classic Car and Tractor run takes place this Sunday, May 24th, with all proceeds going towards Dunmanway/Kilbrittain Autism Centre, MS Ireland (West Cork Branch) and St. Mary’s Church Dunmanway.  

It will kick off at 1p.m. but you may register at 11:30 a.m. in Cox’s Hall, Dunmanway. 

Admission of one tractor/car is €20. 

Dusk Chorus - Sunday May 24th

Guided dawn and dusk chorus events are ideal for beginners; everyone is welcome to join

The time of the event allows every bird to be heard individually, as well as being at an appropriate time of day for families to attend. 

Attendees and guides will meet at the Long Strand car park, Castlefreke at 8pm.  

The event is free of charge and open to everyone. Sturdy footwear, warm clothes and insect repellent are advised.
