SONGWRITER and producer Laurie Shaw was born in the Wirral, UK, but now lives in Ireland and often gigs in Cork. He will play Skibbereen Town Hall on May 19th as part of The Listening Project. Here he shares some of his own musical favourites.

What song have you been listening to on repeat lately? People Like Us by Talking Heads. I’ve even been singing it in me dreams.

What genre of music is your favourite?  Disco.

Who’s your top artist or band of all time? Kate Bush.

What are your top three songs of all time? Well, this is impossible to answer but I would say as of right now, three songs I’ve never gotten sick of hearing are Leonard Cohen’s Memories from the Death Of A Ladies Man album, Frank Zappa’s Uncle Remus from the Apostrophe’ record and A Gift by Lou Reed from Coney Island Baby. But that list will be very different by the time this goes to print.

If you could see any person/ band perform, dead or alive, who would it be? I would have loved to have seen Jake Thackray, but unfortunately he passed away three days after my eighth birthday.

Do you listen on vinyl, CDs, or streaming?  I probably listen mostly to vinyl but also digitally to the albums I’ve got on my computer that I’ve either ripped from CDs or downloaded on Bandcamp.
