Dunmanway man Brian Collins is a full time electrician and sometimes party DJ.

He sat down with The Southern Star discuss his wide ranging music influences and tastes.

What songs have you been to listening to on repeat at the moment? I’ve had what I like to call French Café on a bit lately. Stuff like Pink Martini, François Hardy and Edith Piaf.

What is your favourite genre of music? I’d say it would have to be a mixture of Punk and New Wave, late 70s to early 80s, Sex Pistols, XTC, Adam and the Ants, Duran Duran, you get the drift.

Favourite band or artists of all time? I have to say Adam and the Ants. The older I’m getting, the more I listen to and prefer the early stuff ,even before debut album ‘Dirk Wears White Sox.’ The early Peel sessions and some bootlegs that I have are bloody brilliant.

Top three songs of all time?

Welcome to the Pleasuredome’, the album version by Frankie Goes to Hollywood as it’s 13 minutes of a Trevor Horn produced masterpiece.

‘’Dear God by XTC, It was originally a B side on the single ‘’Grass. The genius writing of Andy Partridge (no relation to Alan) is still relevant today.

Stairway to Heaven’ by Led Zeppelin. Best song ever written.

If you could see one artist perform, dead or alive, who would it be?  I suppose it would be Elvis, even though he never played outside the States.

Do you prefer to listen on vinyl, CD or Spotify?  These days it’s mostly Spotify because I’m on the road quite a lot and I can get plenty of my music fixes that way.

What song would you like played at your funeral? That’s an easy one. ‘In My Life’ by The Beatles. Just listen to the lyrics....perfection!
