After a jam-packed bank holiday weekend, West Cork is winding down, but there's still a great selection of things to do this weekend across the region.

This weekend's include Baltimore Fiddle Festival, Darkness into Light, Cork Bike Week, a Dj duo and one of the year's scariest films in cinemas.

Baltimore Fiddle Festival - Thursday May 7th to Sunday May 10th

First started in 1992, Baltimore Fiddle Festival has become a must-visit festival for all music lovers.

Its a unique festival in that it consistently features a world class line-up of national and international artists, yet presents them in intimate settings in the beautiful seaside surroundings of Baltimore.

The festival includes concerts, workshops and sessions at a number of different venues around the village.

Darkness Into Light - Saturday May 9th

Darkness Into Light is a 5km walk which takes place at 4:15am on Saturday 9th of May 2026 and is Pieta's biggest annual fundraiser.

Locations across West Cork are taking part.

You can check when your local walk is taking place, and donate to this worthy cause here.

Cork Bike Week - Saturday May 9th to Sunday May 17th

Bike Week kicks off this Saturday. and there are many events taking place across Cork, Skibbeeren included.

The town's bike-themed events include a cycle to Tragumna, a mystery bicycle buffet and a big cycle bus.

 

Long Island Sound - Saturday May 9th

Dublin-born duo Long Island Sound bring their immersive, emotionally charged electronic sound to Connolly's of Leap for a special all-night-long performance.

Known for their euphoric yet introspective take on electronic music, the pair craft deep, melodic journeys that balance warmth, drive, and late-night intensity.

With releases spanning acclaimed albums, remixes for iconic artists, and standout festival performances across Europe, Long Island Sound have become a trusted name on discerning dance floors.

Go to the cinema to see 'Hokum'

Bantry director Damien McCarthy's latest film Hokum released in Irish cinemas last week.

Featuring Hollywood actor Adam Scott, the movie has been touted as one of the most terrifying films of the year.

Cinemax Bantry are showing Hokum every evening.
