AN ECLECTIC mix of activities are taking place across West Cork on April 18th and 19th.
This weekend's events include short story readings, a classical music concert, a DJ set by a legendary indie band frontman, a table quiz night and a road race.
Short Stories from the West Cork Islands - Saturday April 18th
The Museum of Birds and Beasts have completed a book of short stories from the West Cork Islands.

During 2024 and 2025, stories were collected from West Cork islanders, along with former residents of the now uninhabited Middle Calf Island and Horse Island.
An official reading of the book will take place this Saturday at the Whiddy Island Community Hall at 2pm.
This event is free and no booking is required.
Trio Bohémo - Saturday April 18th
Czech classical group Trio Bohémo will have their first ever Irish performance in Skibbereen this Saturday.
Known for their captivating performances and impressive command of the piano trio repertoire, the ensemble will perform a beautiful programme featuring Schubert’s serenely lyrical Notturno in E-flat major, alongside inspirational and dramatic works by Ravel and Beethoven.
The concert kicks off at 3pm in the Abbeystrewry Church.

Tim Burgess DJ Set - Saturday April 18th
Tim Burgess, frontman of indie band The Charlatans, brings his DJ set to the dance floor at Connolly's of Leap this Saturday.
Tim cut his teeth as a DJ at the legendary Heavenly Social in London and toured with The Chemical Brothers, even providing vocals on a couple of their tracks.
Doors open at 8pm. Tickets are €29.50 and are available here.

Quiz Night - Saturday April 18th
A fundraising table quiz night will take place in the Irish Whip Pub, Ballydehob this Saturday night.
Teams of four are required for entry, and entrance costs €10 per person.
All funds raised on the night will go to the Scoil Bhride Playground Equipment fund.

Bantry AC Flying 5 Mile Road Race - Sunday April 19th
Bantry AC's annual five mile road race takes place this Sunday April 19th.
The event, which is open to runners and walkers, kicks off at the Westlodge Hotel in Bantry at 10.30am.
